When did Soy Sweet Candle Company begin? Soy Sweet began in November of 2006 while searching for a cleaner and cheaper alternative to those expensive "Mall Store" candles that left nasty black soot all over the jars and the walls in our home.
Are your candles 100% natural?
All jar candles and tarts are made from 100% pure soybean wax. The fragrance oil we add is not considered "natural", therefore it would be incorrect to assume the candle itself is "100% Natural". Please note we use lead-free, and zinc core-free wicks. All wicks are cotton cored and are un-bleached. All candle products are not colored. The natural color of the candles depends on the fragrance oil added and varies from a creamy white to a golden hue. Please note that some candles may change color due to exposure to sunlight. This will NOT affect the candle's scent or burning performance.
Why does my candle wick have a "mushroom" looking thing on the top?
This means the wick needs to be trimmed. You should keep your wicks trimmed to 1/4 inch to prevent "mushrooming".
It looks like the side of my candle glass is "wet". What is that?
This is a normal characteristic for soy wax. Sometimes parts of the wax don't entirely adhere to portions of the glass. This in no way effects the quality or burning process of your candle.
Do you offer Gift Certificates?
Yes, please contact us for more information.
Questions about Ordering & Shipping:
How long will it take to receive my order?
All candles are hand made and hand-poured, and therefore, we only make candles that are ordered to ensure you receive the freshest products. You can expect your order to be processed within 1-3 days and shipped within 7-10. All orders must be paid in full before we ship. You will be notified upon shipment. If a particular item is out of stock, we will notify you immediately.
Is there a Sales Tax?
If the order is being shipped to, or you are a resident of Pennsylvania, you will be charged 6% PA sales tax as required by state law.
What service do you use to ship packages?
Our preferred carrier is U.S.P.S. (United States Postal Service) as this is usually the most cost efficient. Larger orders may be shipped via UPS at our discretion. We DO require shipping insurance on ALL packages.
What countries do you ship to?
Currently we only ship to US address's. If you have a need for shipping to Canada, please contact us and we will work with you directly. Customs fees, import duties, or taxes may be levied. These charges are the responsibility of the buyer.
What forms of payment are accepted?
We currently only accept PayPal. This allows you to pay in a variety of ways, and you do NOT need a PayPal account to pay. You will receive an invoice from PayPal after we receive your order.
If you need to pay using check or money order, please note your order will not be processed until we have received the payment and it has cleared our bank. Please note there will be a $35 fee for any checks returned by our bank.

Lighted candles should always be within sight. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.
As your candle starts to burn down & melt make sure your wick stays centered and does not contact the side of the container to prevent cracking.
Trim the wick to 1/2 inch each time before burning.
Extinguish the flame if it comes too close to the holder or container.
Always use an appropriate candleholder placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
Keep burning candles away from drafts, vents and air currents.
Extinguish a candle if it smokes, flickers repeatedly, or the flame becomes too high. Cool, trim wick, check for drafts, and re-light.
Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.
Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room.
Never touch or move a candle when the wax is liquid.
Burn your candle until it is melted completely across the top. This will help prevent your candle from tunneling, and will ensure it burns evenly. This may take 3-4 hours.
To dispose of unwanted wax, pour the wax in a milk carton or aluminum can. Do not pour wax down the drain!!!! IT WILL CLOG YOUR SINK! For tart warmers, wait until the wax has completely cooled and hardened and then you will be able to easily remove it with a spoon. You can throw the hard wax in your trash.
Discontinue burning a candle when only 1/4 inches of wax remains.
Do not burn candle for more than 6-7 hours at a time.
